Problematic Co-Worker?

Hmm…

Is somebody in your office a nightmare to work with? Who hasn’t dealt with one of them? Therein is the predicament – Deal With! It is a real “head scratcher” why the boss sees them differently.

Guess what? That is the easy part. If your job is worth keeping read on. If not, get the heck out of there!

My guess is the problem co-worker is a psychopath, I use predator. I don’t know the facts of your particular situation and without diagnosis I can’t be sure. But it is a good bet, so let’s assume I am right.

Step one to your solution is to understand how a predator’s mind works. Sorry, but you need to do your homework. Without this appreciation you will not win. These individuals are not considered master manipulators for nothing. Just do it.

You can start by reviewing my website Predator Awareness. Do not just skim over the information. Take your time and study it, let your imagination take control.

You will find a predator’s behavior does not use the same processing for action as yours does. As you examine the way their mind works the information will be extremely foreign. Most of you will not be able to wrap your mind around the concept.

Instinctively you will react to the contrary. No way, not possible. It is not only possible, but probable. Shut down your instinct and use your mind.

Have you ever watched a show, fact or fiction doesn’t matter, wherein the criminal predator commits a crime without expressing remorse? In your mind you think how can they do that? How they do that is they live in the absence of empathy. We all hear examples of this daily. Predators wonder what all the fuss is about. They don’t get it and neither does your co-worker.

Step two is isolation. Easier said then done. You need to figure out how to go about this for your particular situation. This depends on how ingratiated with other co-workers your predator is.

If your co-worker predator has a small fan club, then the rest of you need to shut off all but the minimal communication with them. Stay pleasant. But tell them nothing. Also be sure to keep quiet around a fan club member.

Unfortunately, the fan club must be isolated too. Keep in mind a fan club member has no clue they are being manipulated, do not hold a grudge.

If your co-worker predator has a huge fan club, wait it out. The club membership will diminish over time. In the meantime keep your information close to the vest and take notes. You may need these notes in the future should the boss question a situation. Predator wins without them.

Why isolation? A predator’s life is an illusion. Without support of the illusion via the fan club…

they will self destruct.
